Epinions.com This site is a ton of fun, and it pays you to visit. You write opinions about products and services that you use, and they pay you when people read your opinions. This site is also a very good referance when you are looking to invest your hard earned (or your free money) in a product. Lots of good experience is posted there for you to read. Very good source for gossip about the computer world. The material on this page is primarily read and contributed by Linux folks.

Alternative Houses

Earthships: These homes are really weird looking, but they are designed to be completely self sufficient. It is definitely and interesting idea.

Oregon Dome: Sells traditional geodesic dome homes. They link to some very interesting pages showing dome houses being built.

Monolithic dome: Sells concrete domes. Very interesting concept.

Advanced Yurts Large, round, canvas homes. My friend Dean says they are quite popular up in Alaska. They look quite economical.

Rocky Mountain institute: A great source of energy efficiency and sustainable living issues.

Fuel cells: This new technology will probably change our world. This page links to many pages that explain the concept and application of fuel cells

Composting water heater: This clever guy in Portland OR used a composting greenhouse to heat water for his household.

Vermiculture - Using composting worms to recycle waste. An wiggly way to reduce that garbage bill.
